KPMG in Hungary
KPMG established its office in Budapest in 1989, the first one in Central and Eastern Europe.
The Hungarian practice today employs more than 600 staff, with KPMG Hungary Ltd. offering audit services and KPMG Advisory Ltd. offering tax and advisory services for Hungarian and multinational companies, government entities and inward investors.
Hungary, due to its open policy toward foreign investment and central geographical location, has been a preferred location for foreign direct investment since the beginning of the transition to a market economy. Despite the recent global recession, we believe that in the longer run, the country will continue to be a favorite regional center for multinational firms, and an attractive location for shared service centers. Low cost of living and a cost-efficient and well-trained workforce will continue to attract more leading companies to Hungary.
To help our clients amidst the circumstances of the global economic slowdown, KPMG offers services focusing on accounting advisory, financial restructuring, cost and liquidity management, business process improvement and tax efficiency, among others.
KPMG has been the leading audit firm in Hungary for many years (according to the Budapest Business Journal Book of Lists), serving numerous leading Hungarian companies. We focus on market segments including financial services, telecommunications, energy and utilities, real estate, government, infrastructure and tourism. In the financial sector, we concentrate on banks, insurance and asset management. In the industrial and consumer markets, we focus on the automotive industry, energy, power and natural resources, as well as on the food and retail sectors. We are working closely with companies in the communications industry, electronics and media.
In order to better serve these investors and to broaden our client base, we have set up country desks, including French, German, Israeli and Japanese professional teams.
