Donations
One of the foundations of our company’s CR strategy is Communities, within which the
operation of a responsible and transparent donation system plays a key role.
In order to handle donation requests received by KPMG in Hungary in a standard
Manner, and to answer all individual and organisational requests, we have set up a control procedure. Donations requests can be sent to Berzsenyi Marta at marta.berzsenyi@kpmg.hu.
PIT 1% donations
Each year we encourage our employees to offer 2x1% of their personal income tax and hereby support local non-profit and religious organisations. In 2008, 83% of our employees contributed.
Matching Fund – individual and firm donations
The Matching Fund (MF) donation policy exists to encourage staff to donate to NGOs. Under this policy, KPMG will donate to a not-for-profit organisation the same amount that an employee has donated. This CR opportunity is available throughout the whole year; donations are reviewed every third month.
KPMG staff contributed HUF 196,000 to support a motorbike ambulance, and the firm has doubled the amount, so altogether we have transferred almost HUF 400,000 to the Fõnix Foundation. Through this, our donations enabled the project to grow - we were able to help in setting up a similar special motorbike ambulance squad in Buda as well.
Partners' donations
KPMG in Hungary also donates approximately HUF 20 million (EUR 80,000) annually to foundations nominated by the partners.
Supporting disadvantaged groups
In cooperation with the Family Help Centre of the 13th district KPMG usually organises collection campaigns to help people in need. We have collected school equipment, toys and clothes. More than 30 employees volunteer for giving blood at the blood donation campaign organised 2-3 times each year. Before Christmas we usually take part in Hungarian Baptist Aid’s ‘Shoe box’ project. In 2008 our gift of 40 boxes were given to children in need within and outside of Hungary.
KPMG CR Action Day
This year also we had the opportunity to help an organisation in need by volunteering. We did refurbishing and reconstruction work at the Vizafogó Kindergarten in cooperation with Red Cross.
